Woo Hoo! Another Letter!
So, we got another letter yesterday. Seems Tom's cold turned into pneumonia and he was on bed rest for a couple of days and light duty for another two. But, he is extremely upbeat and happy. He has been approached about being Marine Security Force for the President of the United States! Wow. I spoke with his recruiter and he told me it is a "good and a big thing" to do this. "Very prestigious." Tom said he's not sure he wants to do this, but did ask for our opinion. SO, I wrote him a very, very encouraging letter. This is a once in lifetime opportunity. I pray he takes it and runs with it. What an honor! I think my heart is going to burst with pride! Thomas, I love you, bud!

Sara,
ReplyDeleteTo read your blogs warms my heart because you love your Son so much and that you are supporting him as he is going through a "life changing event" by becoming a United States Marine!!
I am Nancy Doman's Brother-in-Law, Colonel Thomas M. Doman USMCR. It sounds funny to refer to her that way because I've have known her almost my entire life and treat her as my Sister.
I have been in the Marines for over 23 years and couldn't be prouder to be a U.S. Marine! I will tell you that "the Change is Forever" and it has changed my life for better in every aspect. There is a very different and distinct feeling being recognized and referred to as a Marine. That title holds a tremendous amount of responsibility because of all the Men and Women that have gone before and set the standard for those who follow in their foot steps. I take that responsibility very serious and reading about your Son Tom, I am confident that he will wear our colors with pride and honor. Not everyone is cut out to be a Marine and that is fine because we only want "The Few and The Proud" to earn the title "Marine". That may seem like a commercial, but we Marines have an ethos of "Duty, Honor, Country" because we fight our country's battles and win!
I wish Tom the very best and I hope he gets better to complete his training to earn his "Eagle, Globe and Anchor" as he becomes a Marine for the rest of his life.
If there is anything I can do for you or Tom to provide any background information or duty assignments, then please feel free to contact me. Nancy has my contact info.
SEMPER FI,
Colonel Thomas M. Doman USMCR
PS. I think Tom should jump at the chance to be part of the Marine Security Guard!!!
Thank you so much for taking the time to write! I've passed your wisdom re the Security Guard on to Tom in my latest letter. I hope to have the time to share this site with him when he is home between Boot and SOI. We are so proud of him (in case there was a doubt!). Again, thank you!
